Spiritual counseling--also called spiritual direction, guidance, or companioning--is an interactive process that involves deep dialogue and reflection. If you desire, it can also involve meditation, prayer, creative expression, and inspirational readings.
The process supports your unique life path by honoring your callings, visions, dreams, values, and practices. It will help you connect with your inner guidance, strengthen your sense of personal empowerment, and make your life more fulfilling, meaningful, and vibrant--and more oriented toward service.
I see clients of all backgrounds: traditional, nontraditional, interfaith, unaffiliated, agnostic, atheist.
Some clients have no connection with organized religion but want to explore their inner lives, manifest their highest aspirations, deepen their relationships, and grow their love, wisdom, and service.
I believe that each person has their own unique path, which is always lived in relationship with others--other people and the natural world. I honor my clients' diverse paths and the particular ways they name and understand the ultimate reality, power or presence in their lives.
My main role is to listen deeply as you share how you experience the sacred energies moving in your life.
You may choose to discuss areas of your life where you feel spiritually stuck, isolated, anxious, despairing. I may ask brief questions to help clarify and deepen your understanding of your experiences.
I am present to support your explorations in the most loving and understanding way I can. Occasionally, I may suggest a particular spiritual practice or text, which you are free to try out or not.
I have found that Spirit is always present during the session and can be felt when we bring forth our full presence and awareness.
If you are someone who values meditation and prayer, I may invite you to meditate or pray on one of your experiences. Or you may ask me to offer a prayer or lead a spiritual practice.
I have discovered that powerful practices like meditation, prayer and creative expression can evoke powerful insights, transformations, and resolutions as well as catalyze new spiritual encounters
If so, then spiritual counseling may be for you.
In couples spiritual counseling, each person shares the personal and relationship experiences, questions, and challenges that touch their hearts, minds, and souls.
Couples engage in deep dialogue and explore wise and caring ways to support one another, resolve conflicts, and build a sacred life together that honors their differences.
They consider how relationship difficulties offer vital opportunities for understanding and appreciation, love and forgiveness, growth and creative resolution.
My main role is to facilitate authentic, safe, and healing conversations in which each person is heard, respected, and appreciated. I also lead transformative practices that strengthen presence, build empathy, and invite gratitude
In group spiritual counseling, each person has the opportunity to share the experiences, questions, and challenges that touch their hearts, souls, and minds and that often impact their bodies.
As a group participant, you may choose to receive questions, reflections, or suggestions from others, or you may simply want to share your experiences and be heard by a group of compassionate fellow travelers who care about your well-being and growth.
In group sessions, my main role is to create a safe, welcoming container for genuine sharing as well as to facilitate the process of sharing and interacting. We usually begin a session with a meditation or sacred reading or another centering practice or transformative process that I or another participant offers.
